The Role

JPA Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Communications to join our growing Life Sciences Communications Practice. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment, has proven experience with pharmaceutical and biotech clients, and is eager to contribute to strategic growth through exceptional client service and business development. 

This position is hybrid, requiring attendance in one of our JPA offices twice per week.

The Responsibilities

As a VP, you will oversee and execute integrated communications strategies while fostering strong client relationships. Responsibilities include: 

  • Client Leadership: Lead day-to-day account activities and manage client campaigns, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work. 
  • Content Development: Draft and oversee development of materials such as press releases, media pitches, and social media content, ensuring alignment with client goals. 
  • Media Engagement: Lead traditional and social media outreach efforts, including engagement with journalists, patient advocates, and industry experts. 
  • Strategic Execution: Drive national and local media campaigns, regulatory milestones, sponsored content, data communications, and thought leadership initiatives. 
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial targets are met across accounts. 
  • Regulatory Expertise: Manage pharmaceutical regulatory/legal/medical review processes, facilitating best practices across teams. 
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide account teams, fostering professional development and collaboration. 
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, expand services with existing clients, contribute to pitches, and participate in strategic brainstorming sessions. 

About You

Our ideal candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of agency experience in healthcare communications (or 12+ years in lieu of a degree). 
  • Demonstrated success in pharma, biotech, medical devices, or health tech PR/communications. 
  • Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and experience managing materials through regulatory processes. 
  • Strong expertise in project management, building client relationships, and growing accounts organically and through new business. 
  • Experience in digital media as part of integrated strategies. 
  • Proven ability to oversee budgets and meet financial goals. 
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 

We would be thrilled if you also have:

  • Working knowledge of Veeva Vault  
  • Familiarity with the evolving healthcare environment and emerging opportunities for growth.

  • Competitive pay and opportunities to advance. The anticipated starting pay for this role is between $130,000 - $150,000 annually, based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, qualifications, and location. You may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses. We review compensation annually and evaluate readiness for promotions every quarter.
