Overview
This is a full-time position in Quantico, VA. The ideal candidate will be residing in the DMV area. The Photographer will be responsible for capturing high-quality images of military training, command events, ceremonies, and other activities for the Office of Public Affairs. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a deep understanding of photography principles. The Photographer will be responsible for capturing, editing, and distributing images that accurately represent the Marine Corps System Command (MCSC) and its mission.

The Photographer will be responsible for capturing, editing, and distributing images that accurately represent the Marine Corps System Command (MCSC) and its mission.
Key Responsibilities
1. Photography
- Capture high-quality images of military personnel, equipment, and events, both indoors and outdoors.
- Utilize professional photography techniques and equipment to produce visually appealing and informative photographs.
- Edit images using Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) to enhance quality, color, and composition.
2. Image Management
- Organize and archive digital images in accordance with government guidelines and standards.
- Upload approved images to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) website as required.
- Assign unique Visual Information Reference Identification Numbers (VIRINS) to each image.
3. Image Description and Metadata
- Write accurate and compelling captions for images, adhering to Department of Defense guidelines.
- Apply appropriate metadata to images to facilitate search and retrieval.
Required Qualifications
- Security Clearance: Possess and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a photographer.
- DoD Public Affairs Experience: Mandatory prior service experience. DoD Public Affairs experience (USMC Public Affairs experience preferred) preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills in photography and image editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.).
- Portfolio: Ability to showcase a portfolio of high-quality photography work.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or 5 years relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal Photography Training: Completion of a formal photography program or certification.
- Advanced Photography Skills: Proficiency in specialized photography techniques, such as studio lighting, aerial photography, or videography.
- Knowledge of Military Protocol: Understanding of military customs, courtesies, and protocol.
