As a career adviser for SCAD's School of Fine Arts and Visual Communications, you will develop workshops and host employer recruitment events for students and alumni, guiding them on career preparation, self-promotion, and portfolio/professional development. You will work to develop engaging, industry-specific programming and workshops through partnerships with faculty and student organizations. Your responsibilities will include liaising with industry partners to provide superior service levels during on-campus recruiting visits, planning department events such as Career Fair and Out to Launch, and reviewing professional materials (i.e., résumés, cover letters, portfolios) on the SCAD Job Portal. In this position, you will report all student and alumni career success and planning progress through web software.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic higher education and/or design professional with a positive mindset and a student-centered focus. They will have a demonstrated ability to develop relationships with students, alumni, employers, faculty, and colleagues. Excellent organization, project management, communication, and presentation skills are required. The candidate will also possess advanced professionalism and a desire to contribute to SCAD student and alumni career successes.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree with experience in career advising, recruiting, or a related industry • Working knowledge of the career development process • Experience working with diverse populations • Comprehensive understanding of the art and design job market • Proficiency with information management systems and web-based technology
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree
Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver’s license
Travel required: Less than 10%
Work Hours:
The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
