Adecco Creative and Marketing has partnered with a global educational publishing company to hire a senior editor.

This is an ongoing, hybrid (onsite 1-2 days/wk) contract in SoHo. You will work 35 hours/week. The pay is $50-$60/hr.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Editor with extensive experience in creating teaching materials for elementary and middle grades, particularly with a focus on science integrated with reading instruction (science of reading). As a Senior Editor, you will play a critical role in the development and enhancement of educational resources designed to engage young learners and support educators in delivering effective instruction.

Overview of Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, develop, and refine Pre-K through Grade 8 educational materials, with a specific emphasis on science of reading integration. Lead the editorial process, including content creation, manuscript editing, and curriculum development, ensuring alignment with educational standards and pedagogical best practices. Conduct comprehensive reviews and assessments of existing content, identifying areas for improvement and enhancement. Analyze market trends, educational research, and customer feedback to inform content development strategies and priorities. Work closely with authors, illustrators, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure the quality and relevance of educational materials. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior editorial staff, fostering their professional development and growth. Collaborate with production teams to oversee the layout, design, and production of print and digital educational resources.

Job Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Journalism, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience in educational publishing, with a proven track record of developing high-quality instructional materials Deep understanding of editorial processes and content creation methodologies Passion for children's literature and learning Ability to analyze, evaluate, and develop new content for children Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment Classroom teaching experience, with a strong understanding of instructional practices and curriculum development. Knowledge of multilingual support and/or fluency in Spanish is a plus
