Director, Scientific Communications - Neurology
Position Overview
Leadership role managing scientific communications for a biotech/pharma company. Focus on publication plans, medical communications, and scientific training materials. Collaborates with internal teams (Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, etc.) and external stakeholders (vendors, opinion leaders). Hybrid work model: Boston-based with 2+ days in-office; remote options for exceptional candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic publication plans. Oversee writing projects (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations) from planning to submission. Lead scientific content development for internal training, advisory boards, field medicine, and conferences. Manage cross-functional teams for publications planning and review. Build and maintain timelines, ensuring high-quality deliverables within budget. Oversee relationships with external medical communications agencies. Ensure scientific accuracy and compliance with publication practices (e.g., GPP, ICMJE). Provide project management and strategic leadership on assigned projects.
Qualifications
Education:
PhD, PharmD, MD, or similar advanced degree in health sciences. Experience: 10+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with a strong medical/scientific focus. 5+ years in strategic publication planning. Expertise in psychiatry and launch experience in neurology or psychiatry. Familiarity with publication management systems (e.g., PubsHub, Datavision). Skills: Strong writing, communication, and project management skills. Knowledge of good publication practices and medical writing guidelines. Proven ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments. Travel:
Up to 25%, domestic and international.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary:
$220,000–$233,960 (negotiable for exceptional candidates). Additional Rewards:
Bonus, stock options, and comprehensive benefits (health, insurance, retirement plans, tuition assistance).
Salary Range - $220,000 to $234,000
