Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) seeks External Communications Assistant (FT) ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION Conceived in 1997 and incorporated in 2001, the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) is a membership and service organization for artists and organizations in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard counties in Maryland. GBCA promotes, convenes, and leverages resources for Baltimore regions extraordinary arts, culture, history, heritage, and humanities organizations, as well as attractions and individual artists who are all strengthened by working together. GBCAs mission is to create equity and opportunity in, through, and for the arts. Whether they are emerging or established, mainstream or underground, grassroots, or institutional, GBCA believes we are stronger together. It is therefore essential to unify and strengthen all members of the creative community. As an independent and inclusive voice for the cultural sector, GBCA nurtures and promotes a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable arts and culture community essential to the regions quality of life. ABOUT THE POSITION As part of a small team, the External Communications Assistant serves an essential administrative role to support the organization's external communications. Duties include scheduling, database management, approving content on GBCAs website, and producing letters and newsletters. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, and collaborating with all members of staff, the ideal candidate will have experience in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks, and should be able to work independently with minimal supervision. This administrator must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and enjoy teamwork as well as administrative systems, and challenges. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. This position presently works remotely, with occasional in-person meetings and events. A future hybrid work scenario is possible. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Scheduling meetings with the Board, committees, and constituents Manage and produce donation and membership solicitation and acknowledgement letters Production of weekly and programmatic digital newsletters Process donor, member and constituent transactions including database entry Maintain and update jobs, events and opportunities on GBCAs website Support and help coordinate GBCA events and convenings PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS Excellent written and verbal communications skills Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize competing priorities, multi-task, anticipate needs, and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a broad range of individuals from GBCAs stakeholder base Strong computer skills, specifically MS Office products, Mailchimp and GSuite, Drupal, and Database Software (Neon One a plus) Ability to thrive and work effectively as part of a small team in a fast-paced organization Ability to anticipate, understand, and creatively solve problems and/or resolve issues Appreciation for the role and impact of arts and culture in the region General knowledge of the Baltimore regions cultural community SALARY: $50,000 Annually.
