About the BallersThe Oakland Ballers are a professional baseball team in Oakland, CA, and are part of the independent Pioneer Baseball League. The Ballers played their inaugural season in the Summer of 2024, including making it to the playoffs, and are gearing up for their 2025 season.The Oakland Ballers baseball team is dedicated to bringing baseball back to Oakland. We believe in the power of sports to bring people together and are committed to making Oakland a championship city once again.The PositionThis is a full-time role for a Social Media Manager for the Oakland Ballers Baseball Club in Oakland, CA. This role is hybrid during the off-season, with some work on-site, some remote. During the baseball season from May to October, this is an on-site position in Oakland, and includes attending all home games.The Social Media Manager is responsible for scheduled and day to day social media postings, creating content, collaborating with the rest of the organization to meet the organization's goals in marketing, publicity, fan-relations, sponsorships, and community relations, and working with management to continuously improve our social media strategy.This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer, and works closely with our Digital Marketing Specialist, Community Relations Lead, game-day photographer/videographer, our sponsorships team, our baseball operations teams, and the founders.A strong candidate will have a demonstrated ability to create sticky social content that cuts through the noise. We are looking for someone who can create written posts with a strong POV and editorial voice, elegant visual posts, and ideally short video content that is high-quality and impactful. We are a baseball team, but we are also an Oakland-centric lifestyle brand - and our social channels are the main medium where we can consistently express ourselves and our values. Our content must be elevated, compelling, and embody Oakland's gravitas, cleverness, resolve, and grit.DutiesKeeping our fans informed about our team through social media.Posting regularly on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Threads, LinkedIn, and TikTokCoordinating with marketing, sponsorships, community relations, sales, and baseball operations to achieve organizational goals through Social MediaBeing a personable on-camera presenter and personality when needed, to be a proxy for viewers into the baseball park, baseball team, fan experience at games, and community experiences.Hyping up fans and getting lots of fans to be on camera for stills and videos - with the ability to capture compelling stories that center our fans as our heroes.Helping manage Marketing Department interns.Posting all game-day and in-game ritualized posts (game day, first bat, 3rd/6th inning stats, win vs loss, etc), and baseball business ritualized posts (trades, new players, etc)Non-gameplay coverage of game fan experience: creating and posting videos/photos of the fans, stands, food, experience, entertainment, etc. Building relationships with other social media accounts (sponsors, affiliates, partners, other teams in league, other teams in Oakland, the League, etc)Executing sponsorship social media obligationsStrategizing and executing schedules and timing of posts to maximize impactMaximizing and maintaining collab post relationshipsMaking minor graphic design tweaks, using templates to create new graphics in Canva and other programsResponding to or forwarding community questions on SM platforms.Reaching out to get photo-usage-rights from fans and 3rd parties who post pictures of themselves at the gamesTaking assets this position creates and organizing them in digital asset management systems, and working with our Digital Marketing Specialist who owns the asset management workflow.Working with photographers and videographers for regular and special projects.Tracking social media stats over timeOther duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Marketing Officer or other chief officers.QualificationsExperience in Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing, Brand Management, Communications, Video Production, Podcasting, or related fieldKnowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Threads, and TikTokDemonstrated proficiency in content creation, curation, and copywritingFearlessness and excitement in creating content with fans, players, staff, etc.Comfort and ability to appear on camera and perform voice-overs for audio video content.
