Marvin is hiring: Senior Public Relations Specialist in Saint Paul

If youre a storyteller at heart with a passion for brand building through earned media, join the Marvin team as a Public Relations Strategist. In this role, you will work directly with the Director, Enterprise Public Relations + Reputation to champion and manage corporate public relations initiatives to support Marvins positioning, thought leadership and sales goals. You will have a key role in strategy development and execution of the companys media relations initiatives and will initiate creative strategies to advance our positioning and maximize results from earned media.

You will also use creative public relations tactics to position the 112-year-old, family-owned and -led brand as a valuable editorial resource for trade and consumer media. Youll turn complex, technical topics into authentic, compelling, sticky stories that media cant resist reading and sharing. A successful candidate will be as comfortable writing engaging stakeholder communications as they are pitching media about our people-centered perspective on workspace design, and theyll be experienced in tracking and leveraging performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Supports the development of external communications positioning in alignment with internal communications, human resources and marketing for an integrated approach to storytelling
• Collaborates with external PR partners to plan and execute campaigns and earned media opportunities
• Identifies and executes award opportunities to enhance company and brand perception
• Helps identify internal and external thought leaders and subject matter experts
• Develops relationships with key media contacts at priority outlets

• Significant experience researching, interviewing for and writing clear, concise, creative, smart and engaging public relations content
• Demonstrated experience translating organizational strategy to proactive earned media opportunities
• Developed key messaging and trained spokespeople for speaking opportunities, media engagements or similar
• Ability to anticipate potential issues or risks and are a strong conceptual thinker
• Natural curiosity; a propensity to ask why to bring context and depth to your work
• Experience interacting and collaborating with senior leadership

• 8+ years of public relations experience
• A strong sense of the current media landscape, including print, broadcast, digital and emerging media platforms
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to think unconventionally or from a new perspective
• Crisis communications experience preferred
