This position is responsible for surveying, estimating, and laying out fire sprinkler and water-based fire protection system projects. The position will interface directly with the sales team and operations to successfully estimate projects and design them. The estimator will utilize estimating check lists, obtain current and accurate pricing, craft a bill of materials, and intelligently estimate labor hours tied to a work break down structure of the project inside our estimating system. This position will report directly to the fire sprinkler department manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Take direction and work with sales team on potential bid opportunities. Review entire architectural drawings for the project including any provided fire alarm, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, floor plans, reflected ceiling. Identify any specific equipment requirements. Survey field conditions of existing sites prior to or during the estimating process. Layout piping, sprinklers, hangers, and other appurtenances per architectural drawings, applicable NFPA requirements, and site conditions accurately. Perform hydraulic calculations as required to determine system demand and to minimize system components as allowed. Calculate estimated labor needs based upon existing site conditions, scope of work, device requirements, project schedule and accurately attribute them to a work breakdown structure in our estimating software. Identify and establish estimate inclusions and exclusions. Work with operations team on change order needs and develop estimate for change orders on existing projects Participate in WIP meetings as necessary to understand job cost over and under projections. Required Qualifications

High School diploma or Equivalent A minimum of 3-5 years experience in the fire sprinkler industry is required Proficient in AutoCAD and HydraCAD or equivalent fire protection design software Must build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employee and management across departments. Demonstrate integrity and professionalism. Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must prioritize in a fast-paced multi-task environment. Must demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team environment. Valid driver's license with good driving record Preferred Qualifications

Experience in estimating and/or field experience is preferred NICET certification in Fire Sprinkler System is preferred

Compensation

$24 - $34/hour depending on experience

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the Team member is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The Team member is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The Team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
