Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) CEOAS Graphic Design Student Worker position for the College of Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).

The College of Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences is excited to launch an effort to make our common areas (hallways, lobbies, etc.) in Wilkinson and Burt Halls more inviting, interactive, informative, and inspiring. We are in search of an enthusiastic and self-motivated student with strong graphic design skills and creative ideas to help us make these dreams a reality. This student will work with a team of staff members in the college to develop informational and interpretive signs, as well as design elements to tie the spaces together and provide a welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff, prospective students, and alumni.

Anticipated pay: $19.00/hr

Position Duties

Create templates for informational and interpretive signs and other display types that can be used into the future.

Work with the CEOAS Outreach Coordinator (who will provide content) to design informational and interpretive signs, as well as components of interactive exhibits, other display types, and printed materials. This can include the development of infographics, use of photographs, integration of art, etc.

Provide design ideas and support to common space planning efforts (picking out furniture styles, paint colors, etc.) to ensure a cohesive look and feel in our spaces.

All projects need to strictly adhere to OSU brand and CEOAS sub-brand guidelines

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the

Office of International Services

(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

Ability to work collaboratively with a client to obtain the desired product

Graphic design skills sufficient to create desired products (working with photography, infographics, illustrations, branding, etc)

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Experience sharing scientific concepts in graphic form

Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through the use of design

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

We're looking for someone to join our team for this longer term, ongoing project. We would love to find a student with the ability to work beyond spring term, with the possibility of work through the summer and next academic year.
