The Interior Design department at Pratt Institute is calling for applications of candidates to join our part-time teaching faculty for the 24/25 academic year, starting with Fall 2024.
The BFA and MFA Interior Design programs at Pratt prepare students to engage in critical inquiry of occupied space through theoretical and applied research, establishing them as innovators and leaders in the field of interior design. The curriculum addresses emerging and innovative technologies, interdisciplinary collaboration, sustainable practices, and issues of ethical and social responsibility which point to the larger potentials of professional practice, design education, and our evolving understanding of the built environment.

EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES CONSTRUCTION: all aspects of the constructed environment. SUSTAINABLE DESIGN SYSTEMS/PROCESSES MATERIALS COLOR MATERIALS LIGHTING DESIGN STUDIOS: introductory, practice based, and theoretical studios. INTERDISCIPLINARY AND COLLABORATIVE DESIGN COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT | SOCIAL JUSTICE HISTORY | THEORY | RESEARCH DIGITAL/ANALOG 2D 3D REPRESENTATION OTHER SPECIALIZED FIELDS OF DEPARTMENTAL INTEREST Examples of Duties
Teach part-time courses in the BFA and MFA Interior Design programs, focusing on areas such as emerging technologies, sustainable design systems, or interdisciplinary collaboration, while fostering innovation and leadership in interior design practice. Utilize intercultural competence and strong interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse student body, promoting inclusive learning environments that address ethical and social responsibility in the built environment. Qualifications
Education:
Applicants are required to have a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, related fields or equivalent experience in practice. Previous post-secondary teaching experience is preferred but not required. Skills:
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills. A demonstrated level of intercultural competence. Ability to work well with diverse populations. Salary
is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from
$1,721 - $2,214
