Description:

A Senior Vice President in Teneo's Washington office is a member of Teneo's Strategy and Communications business and is a pivotal member of our account teams. They are responsible for executing comprehensive, integrated programs and communications initiatives to support Teneo's clients. This includes government affairs, public affairs campaigning, media relations strategies, and issues and crisis management. Senior Vice Presidents are proactive, entrepreneurial individuals who think creatively and navigate complex situations with ease. This individual should have extensive agency experience, be fluent in policy and political dynamics and be comfortable with counseling senior principals. They will be client-facing, collaborate with the broader Teneo network, assist with business development initiatives, support the DC office's marketing activities, provide leadership to junior teams, and have experience in reputation or advocacy campaigns. Agency campaign experience is essential, and they should be comfortable leading a portfolio of 5+ clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a key member of the "Core Account Team," working with Account Managers and Leaders on client mandates
  • Develop and execute strategies to help clients achieve critical government affairs goals, using campaign-style approaches including research, message development, digital media targeting, and paid and earned communications
  • Manage team members and ensure client teams are progressing against client objectives
  • Serve as a mentor to junior team members, providing ongoing support and guidance for skill and career development
  • Act as a reliable, adaptable resource for senior team members, capable of overseeing others
  • Contribute to the business development process, including proposal development and pitch participation


Qualifications:
  • Strong history of managing client relationships and/or briefing principals
  • Must have understanding and fluency with modern communications and political campaign communication tools and tactics, and know how to create a strategic issues advocacy plan and direct team efforts to execute that plan
  • Political campaign or similar advocacy efforts required; knowledge of government affairs and/or governmental experience a plus; experience working with Fortune 500 companies a plus
  • Experience managing large teams, with a particular focus on mentoring junior staff
  • Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to see complex projects through to execution
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in PowerPoint and ability to distill complex issues down to clear, concise and actionable insights is a must
  • Ability to navigate complex or ambiguous environments
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Suggested work experience: 8+ years in public relations, corporate communications, media, or government affairs

Base Salary Range: $170,000-$190,000 (compensation for this role will depend on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience that may fall outside of the range listed).
