Major Duties Under general supervision of the Department Chair, the IT Consultant provides varying levels of direct support and training to the Department of Art & Design's staff, students and faculty on information and creative technology-based systems in the Art & Design Department. The incumbent supports lab and/or classroom needs, using available information technologies and resources. Installs, repairs, updates and maintains hardware, software and peripherals, including virtual servers; configures, sets up and maintains multi-platform operating systems, printers, projectors, computer labs, tablets, and communication network. Maintains department equipment inventory and database, and serves as liaison to the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication Lead Information Tech, and to Information and Academic Technology divisions. Provides consultative support and services to the user community to ensure problem resolution, performs site administration, operation and system maintenance. With guidance of the College's Lead IT Tech follows CSUN IT policies and trains the department users on these policies. Certification training and applied experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis. Three years of full-time, progressively responsible field-related experience that includes knowledge of relevant hardware, software, maintenance, and user support. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Thorough knowledge of a variety of software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems. Functional knowledge of: Mac/PC and 3D animation game engine software; Autodesk 3D Animation (i.e. Maya}, Unity, Unreal, Toon Boom Storyboard Pro and Harmony, is desirable. Ability and specialized skills to: identify, analyze and address user needs and problems, and propose effective solution; understand functional and procedural requirements, develop alternative solutions and relate them to departmental management and staff. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; make presentations; conduct meetings; develop and/or provide user training; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration. Classification: Information Technology Consultant / 0420 / grade 2 The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $5158 - $6500 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5158 - $12,730 per month. HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends. This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
