The Presidio Trust is seeking an Associate Director of Marketing Strategy and Audience Engagement in the Marketing and Communications Department. The Presidio Trust is an innovative federal agency that stewards and shares the history, beauty, and wonder of the Presidio for everyone to enjoy forever. The ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone, the Presidio was once a military post under three flags. Today, it is a surprising national park site spanning 1,500 acres at the Golden Gate. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Associate Director of Marketing Strategy and Audience Engagement is a pivotal leadership role within the Presidio Trust, responsible for shaping and executing agency-wide strategies that advance the Trust's mission. This role focuses on driving innovative marketing initiatives, enhancing audience engagement, and expanding visitation, particularly among underrepresented communities. As a data-driven strategist, the Associate Director will leverage audience insights and research to develop impactful, actionable marketing strategies that increase the Trust's visibility and influence. This leader will also foster cross-departmental collaboration to implement new operational efficiencies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and enhancing the overall effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts.

This is a full-time position with benefits and a 2025 starting pay range of $167,110 to $182,855, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The starting base salary is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Applications received by December 23, 2024 will receive first consideration.

Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Audience Engagement:

  • Develop and lead strategic marketing initiatives that support overall park visitation, enhance visitor perceptions across key audiences, and drive business line support.
  • Drive audience engagement strategies with a focus on underrepresented communities, ensuring inclusivity in all outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with leadership to shape long-term marketing goals and ensure alignment with the Trust's broader organizational objectives.
  • As part of MarCom leadership, directly contributes to developing the annual integrated plan.
  • Lead audience research initiatives to track visitor metrics, including overall visitation and perceptual studies. Collaborate with agencies, manage vendors, and develop comprehensive reports for cross-agency use.
  • Translate research findings into actionable strategies that elevate the Trust's visibility and impact in the community.
  • Partner with the Visitor Engagement team to leverage research insights for shaping audience-focused programming and promotional strategies, with a focus on sponsorship activations and media partnerships.
  • Develop cohesive content marketing ideas that drive audience growth and engagement. Leverage research insights to inform content planning and execution, ensuring relevancy to target audiences.
Creative Campaign Development:
  • Utilize data and audience insights to guide marketing strategies, optimize campaigns, and measure effectiveness that supports agency audience and visitation goals.
  • Monitor audience trends and behaviors, translating findings into actionable insights that inform marketing plans and initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional team to develop an agency destination marketing plan.
  • Direct third-party agency on marketing campaign execution, ensuring optimal use of Trust visitor data and performance metrics.
Leadership and Operational Excellence:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of marketing professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
  • Monitor and manage marketing budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize impact and projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest quality.
  • Champions best practices that will enhance the Trust's reputation, reach, and impact.
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing and Communications to identify, develop, and implement operational improvements that streamline marketing and communications processes.
  • Facilitate collaboration between marketing, communications, and other departments to create integrated marketing campaigns that deliver cohesive and impactful outcomes and align with Agency goals.
  • Track and maintain all campaign, research, projects and team workflows in a project management tool such as Asana.
Data Analysis and Performance Reporting
  • Serve as the expert analyst for audience development data, synthesizing inputs into actionable strategies and recommendations. Develop ongoing analytics and tracking to measure success and identify opportunities for refinement.
  • Develop robust reporting standards and dashboards to track key performance indicators, campaign effectiveness, and audience growth metrics.
  • Proactively identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement based on data analysis.
  • Establish an audience growth plan and develop data reporting standards to help improve the making of daily and long-term decisions.
  • Develop and present executive-level summaries for decision-making based on agency-wide marketing, research, and data insights presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises and mentors up to 3 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, directives, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; fostering continuous improvement and staff development; scheduling time off; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. in Business, Marketing, Audience Research or related field.
  • Minimum 12 years progressively responsible experience developing and analyzing visitor data and developing audience acquisition campaigns.
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams, fostering collaboration, and driving professional growth and development
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and drive initiatives to successful completion.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of developing data-driven marketing strategies that achieve measurable results
  • Ability to translate organizational objectives into audience outreach strategies and metrics.
  • Possesses considerable experience with quantitative tools and has the ability to build relevant reports.
  • Possesses extensive experience in paid marketing, SEO, partnerships, email marketing, content development and digital media.
  • Ability to develop, track and manage budgets.
  • Ability to distill audience visitor data into informed and actionable campaigns, public messaging, and effective promotional content.
  • Experience developing research methodology and working with third party research partners.
  • Ability to engage with, gain from the contributions of, and earn the respect of colleagues and partners.
  • Ability to practice transparency and proactively involve others to achieve goals.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of Google Analytics, paid social and enterprise email tools.
  • Effectively develops strategies based on data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects while maintaining both a firm grasp on individual project details and a strong sense of strategic context for each undertaking.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
