About the role


We are hiring an Audio Engineer to assist in all aspects of the production of audio for our physical media, streaming, and theatrical releases. As part of our audio team, you’ll play an integral role in the assessment, digital restoration, and remastering of films - both classic and new. You’ll also regularly serve as a dialog editor and re-recording mixer for new supplemental content, documentaries, and film commentaries. Your skilled ear will ensure that every final product, whether it's a 4K disc or streaming content, meets our highest standards for audio quality.

A typical day for a member of the audio team involves simultaneously working on several projects that may range from a lengthy restoration of a classic film to a short trailer for distribution on the internet. You’ll generally see a project through from its initiation to its completion which, along with the duties previously mentioned, involves preparing deliverable files and responding to QC reports. You’ll work closely with a small team of audio professionals who are all dedicated to ensuring that all of our output is of the highest possible quality.


About you


You have a solid background in all aspects of professional audio post production, a deep interest in film and world cinema, and impeccable communication skills. The ability to troubleshoot technical issues, an understanding of professional video formats as well as historical film formats, and knowledge of broadcast loudness standards would be a plus. You are eager to adapt your existing skills to new tools and challenges of a technical nature. You are able to deftly balance multiple deadlines and would be proactive in communicating what you need to complete a project.


Responsibilities


  • ● Perform digital audio restorations on feature soundtracks using Pro Tools, iZotope RX, and other restoration tools
  • ● Edit, mix and master audio commentaries and special features
  • ● Quality Control of soundtracks, commentaries and other special features
  • ● Assess the quality of audio elements and determine restoration strategies
  • ● Maintain audio equipment


Basic Qualifications


  • ● Avid Pro Tools and iZotope RX proficiency
  • ● Familiarity with film and video production workflows
  • ● Dialog editing and re-recording mixing experience
  • ● Good understanding of audio processing tools and plugins (EQ, compression, limiting, etc.)
  • ● Excellent critical listening skills
  • ● Strong appreciation for world cinema
  • ● Exceptional attention to detail
  • ● Strong language and writing skills
  • ● Ability to work well with others and independently. Reliable & responsible
  • ● Ability to problem-solve and/or troubleshoot technical equipment


Preferred Experience


  • ● 1-2 years of audio post production experience
  • ● Audio restoration experience
  • ● Knowledge of professional video, audio and film formats and standards
  • ● Operation of digital and analog VTRs
  • ● Knowledge of current broadcast loudness standards
  • ● Sound design experience


This is a permanent, full-time position with excellent benefits–including medical, dental, 401K matching, and a generous vacation policy. Base salary range is $60,000 - $80,000/year, commensurate with experience. The nature of the work will require you to be physically present in our New York, NY office.
