The Lead Technician’s job entails building the infrastructure of low-voltage systems and all telecom networks: LAN, WAN, CCTV, and/or CATV. Must be able to install, troubleshoot, and maintain audio, video, data cables, and copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.

The job duties and responsibilities of the Lead Technician include the following:

**This is a commission-based position.

  • Structured Wiring Experience
    1. Able to perform multi-story wallfish, firebreaks drilling, and core drilling
    2. Identify best pathways when required, as well as install/use Panduit/conduit, indoor/outdoor
    3. Run, terminate, and test coaxial cable, speaker wires, ethernet drops, and fiber optics, from/to multiple rooms avoiding damage to walls
    4. Pre and post-installation required
  • Know and understand how to read building plans
  • Must be able to patch/paint drywall and other structural repairs if needed
  • Must have the ability to run in-ground wiring
  • Must have strong Wire Management skills (inventory, labels, rack cleaning)
  • Ability to set up equipment into racks and in-wall enclosures
  • Installing smart devices such as climate control, keypad and door locks, lighting, surveillance, and audio/video equipment
  • Programming knowledge of Control4

What do we require from you:

  • 3+ years of audiovisual or industry-related experience
  • 3+ years of Cat6 and Fiber Optics installation
  • Basic networking skills and knowledge: TCP/IP concepts, and the basic setup of routers, NVRs, IP cams, and access points
  • Basic knowledge of electrical runs and related standards
  • Ability to work off a ladder or staging
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 75lbs.)
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to travel or work overtime, as necessary
  • Experienced use of basic power/hand tools
  • Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred

Working conditions

While performing duties, the employee will work primarily in the field. The employee may be required to work outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levels. Additional exposures include but are not limited to confined spaces such as attics and crawl-spaces.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Able to lift 75lbs and handle a ladder in a safe manner. Work from varied lifts, scissor lifts, and ladders of all sizes.
