Essential Functions
- Oversees operations of broadcast and network systems of video production facility.
- Responsible for the technical design and implementation of systems to meet the needs of War Eagle Productions, which includes, but is not limited to communication equipment, audio and video upgrades in broadcast facility, and various campus facilities over fiber optic transmission. Maintains and designs complex fiber optic networks for data, digital video signal transmission, and signal flow within a broadcast environment and remote sites. Oversees setup of intercom system and enterprise-class video and audio routing in a production facility for live productions. Communicates complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences. Forecasts video system demands, and recommends upgrades, expansion, and reconfiguration.
- Supports, maintains, and troubleshoots technical workflows to include transcoding and live streaming workflows; and diagnoses and leads the effort to solve technical, network, and software or production workflow.
- Troubleshoots, performs maintenance, and upgrades the broadcast facility including switchers, instant replay, enterprise video router and multiviewer, and intercom system. Troubleshoots video hardware and software issues.
- Works with integrators and third parties and acts as internal project manager for all maintenance and new installation and integration of projects. Develops installation plans, and installs, configures, and tunes equipment.
- Documents standards and operating procedures for the video editing systems and acts as a technical resource to the video communications staff and systems users.
- Leads engineering team and provides support for projects, including the development of project plans and assigning tasks to team members.
- Manages all aspects of production of live regular-season linear events in a collegiate setting according to required standards, protocols, and specifications. Functions in a variety of roles depending on skillset, schedule, and desired outcomes. Includes leading/supervision of staff in all aspects of production. Positions worked could include but are not limited to EIC, V1, E2, A1, A2.
- Assists with the development of the budget by researching current and new technologies in the broadcast industry. Manages equipment budget for maintenance and projects. Recommends the purchase of equipment.
- Works with other members of the War Eagle Productions staff to hire students and TES and provides training to ensure competency in their respective job roles.
- Works with the business office for procurement and vendor vetting.
- Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) regulations in the performance of job duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma and 9 years of experience OR
- Associate's degree and 7 years of experience OR
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience OR
- Master's degree and 3 years of experience
Scope of experience: Experience in television, network systems, or video production services.
