Description
The Digital Communications Specialist creates and maintains web content using the university's content management system. Ensures established standards of usability, marketability, performance and standards are met and evaluates new trends in web design and development. Tests, analyzes and maintains site search engine readiness and ADA compliance.
Job Duties
- Performs administrative tasks to ensure the security, organization and efficiency of the university's web content management system
- Processes support and maintenance requests for the university's primary website, samford.edu.
- Constructs optimized pages in the university web content management system using approved design and development methodologies.
- Conducts regular webpage assessments to ensure established standards of usability, marketability and performance are met.
- Evaluates webpage search engine optimization and recommends changes to ensure optimal placement of campus webpages in search engine results.
- Tests the university's primary website for ADA compliance and implements mitigation measures to ensure the university adheres to the latest ADA standards.
- Researches and evaluates the latest trends in web usability, design and development.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a web-related field.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines.
- Ability to write/edit for SEO, grammar, spelling, punctuation and style.
- Ability to report to work a minimum of five days per week.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 7 hours per day.
- Ability to work on computer and view screen for up to 7 hours per day.
- Maintain a commitment to the Christian mission of Samford University.
- Previous experience with content management systems.
- Previous experience with SEM/SEO software.
- Google Analytics Certification.
- Working knowledge of presentation layer coding (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
- Understanding of ARIA, metadata, microdata and semantic HTML concepts.
- Collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and optimize content strategies for enrollment, fundraising, reputation and branding.
