The Job

As a member of SCAN Health plan's communications team, the Content Writer will produce content that connects with our audience and drives traffic to our website. This position is responsible for optimizing member interactions with clear, on-brand, multi-channel communications.

You Will

Takes initiative to develop topics and utilize tactics that deliver on the organization's content strategy.

Develops and optimizes SEO-driven copy, ensuring that SCAN is easily discoverable through search engines.

Creates compelling, multi-channel content that maximizes each channel's impact (e.g., emails that drive action and print pieces that break through clutter) while ensuring consistency of message across all mediums-digital, print, video, phone, social, etc.

Produces content that motivates, inspires, educates, informs and/or sells. Reflects the brand voice and speaks to the right audience-whether prospective client, current client, or business partner-presenting information in ways that matter most to them.

Collaborates with digital team, subject matter experts and content owners to develop content; provides editorial support for various departments to ensure content quality and brand voice.

Writes clear, concise, and grammatically correct copy. Takes complicated information and translates it into consumer-friendly, easy-to-understand plain language.

Serves as liaison between the communications, design, and digital teams, suggesting and providing images/assets as needed and proactively reviewing web pages to ensure content is up-to-date and to maintain quality control.

Understands relevant regulations (e.g., CMS, DHCS) and ensures that all communications adhere to regulatory requirements and are submitted for review and approval by compliance and/or legal, as needed.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field.
  • Certification in SEO or Content Marketing preferred.
  • 5-10 years' writing experience, whether as a journalist, marketing copywriter, or communications professional.
  • 2-5 years' experience specifically with search engine strategy (keyword research, rank analysis, etc.) and writing digitally focused copy.
  • Eagle-eyed proofreader: your own work is clean and error-free and you spot and correct others' errors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: you will closely collaborate with teams across the organization on a number of initiatives, so you know how to listen and when to speak up.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Highly motivated, well-organized multi-tasker, able to flex easily should projects or priorities shift.
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated industry is a plus.
  • Experience producing content for senior audience is a plus.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines consistently without sacrificing quality is a must.
