Pay: $70,000 - $78,000 per year, dependent on experience and education

Job Overview:
MassCEC is seeking a Content Creation Manager to support the Marketing and Communications (MarCOMM) team, led by the VP of Marketing and Communications. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Content Creation Manager will manage the agency’s social media accounts and write articles, blogs, and social media posts. In addition, the Content Creation Manager will supervise the Marketing, PR, and Digital Media Fellow; film videos; design graphics; and staff events. The Content Creation Manager will work with the MarCOMM team to develop social media strategy and highlight MassCEC’s strategic priorities. Some travel may be required.
Job Duties:
- Assist in developing social media strategy and execute strategy across MassCEC’s social media channels by creating posts and managing their approval.
- Build and maintain a content calendar for MassCEC’s social media channels.
- Design social media graphics, flyers, and other materials.
- Assist with analyzing social media performance by organizing and tracking metrics.
- Attend events as needed to photograph or film and create associated social posts.
- Edit photos and manage a photo catalog.
- Lead video production, including concepting videos, filming, and editing.
- Collaborate with other members of MassCEC’s MarCOMM team, internal subject matter experts, MassCEC grantees and portfolio companies, our PR agency, policymakers, activists, and other stakeholders in the climate community to develop story ideas, pitch, and write compelling articles, features, news pieces, and success stories on climate-related topics, adhering to journalistic standards and guidelines.
- Translate complex scientific concepts and data into accessible and engaging content for a general audience.
- Stay updated on the latest developments, trends, and debates in the field of climate change.
- Adapt writing style and content for various platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, and multimedia formats.
- Meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and integrity.
- Manage workload effectively and prioritize assignments based on editorial needs and audience interests.
The Content Creation Manager is expected to be knowledgeable about current events and be able to draw connections between MassCEC’s work and clean energy and climatetech news in Massachusetts, the U.S., and internationally.
Position Qualifications:
Candidates should have fluency with current affairs and be skilled at multitasking, meeting deadlines, and working collaboratively with diverse groups. The Content Creation Manager is expected to work some nights and weekends and ideally should possess a valid driver’s license. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve, and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment. Other qualifications include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in digital media, marketing, communications or equivalent experience is required.
- 2-4 years’ experience in digital media, marketing, communications, social media management required.
- Valid MA drivers’ license.
- Familiarity with climate science, clean energy, climatetech, and current events.
- Strong skills in Adobe Premiere, Canva, Hootsuite, and video production tools required. Proficiency in Adobe After Effects preferred.
- Proficiency in either Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and/or Photoshop required
- A keen eye for graphic design.
- Ability to turn around assignments quickly and at high quality.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft engaging narratives and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely, particularly in social media formats.
- Demonstrated interest in climate policy, social justice, journalism, public service, law, or government preferred, along with a passion for environmental advocacy and a commitment to raising awareness about climate change and sustainability issues.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Technologically proficient, able to learn and use new software, troubleshoot errors, and manage camaras and video equipment.
- Candidates should be social media-savvy and excited about exploring creative and fun ways for MassCEC to communicate with the public.
- Excellent research and fact-checking abilities, with a commitment to accuracy and objectivity.
- Familiarity with AP style, journalistic ethics, and best practices in online publishing.
- Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom or editorial environment.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and strategies for optimizing content for search engines is a plus.
