Job Description: Creative Director

Position Overview: As a Creative Director for the Professional Football League, you will be responsible for overseeing the creative direction and visual identity of the League and its teams. You will lead a team of designers and creative professionals in developing and executing innovative and visually compelling concepts across various platforms. Your role will be instrumental in shaping the League's brand image, enhancing fan engagement, and driving creative excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Creative Strategy and Brand Development:
    • Develop and execute the League's creative strategy, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and values.
    • Define and maintain the League's visual identity, including logo design, color palettes, typography, and overall brand guidelines.
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to ensure consistent and impactful brand messaging across all channels.
  2. Creative Team Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of designers, copywriters, and other creative professionals.
    • Provide guidance, mentorship, and feedback to the team, fostering a collaborative and innovative creative culture.
    • Delegate and prioritize projects, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  3. Concept Development and Execution:
    • Lead the development and execution of creative concepts for marketing campaigns, digital assets, advertisements, and other promotional materials.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives and develop creative solutions that align with brand guidelines.
    • Ensure that creative concepts are compelling, innovative, and resonate with the target audience.
  4. Visual Design and Art Direction:
    • Oversee the creation of visual designs, including graphics, illustrations, photography, and video content.
    • Provide art direction and guidance to the creative team, ensuring consistency and excellence in visual execution.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and design best practices, incorporating them into the League's creative output.
  5. Creative Project Management:
    • Manage the end-to-end creative project lifecycle, from brief development to final delivery.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  6. Collaboration and Relationship Building:
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including Marketing, Digital, Events, and Game Operations, to align creative efforts with broader organizational goals.
    • Build strong relationships with external vendors, agencies, and freelancers to support creative production when necessary.
    • Present creative concepts and work to stakeholders, including senior management, sponsors, and partners.
  7. Brand and Asset Management:
    • Oversee the management and organization of the League's creative assets, ensuring they are easily accessible and properly archived.
    • Develop and maintain a library of visual assets, templates, and brand resources for internal and external use.
    • Monitor and enforce brand compliance across all creative materials and platforms.
  8. Quality Control and Feedback:
    • Ensure the highest standards of quality in all creative output, maintaining attention to detail and consistency.
    • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to the creative team to foster continuous improvement and professional growth.
    • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of creative work to assess performance and identify areas for enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Creative Director or in a senior-level creative role, preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in graphic design, branding, and visual communication.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a creative team.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually, translating ideas into impactful visual solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate creative concepts and strategies.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Passion for sports, particularly professional football, and a deep understanding of the sports industry and fan culture.
