The Creative Director will be the driving force behind our brands creative process and effectiveness. This role is responsible for leading and executing creative marketing strategies that ensure alignment and consistency with organizational goals. This role will collaborate closely with agency partners and staff to create compelling campaigns and brand experiences, leveraging research and analytics to measure success. Responsibilities include managing diverse and relevant creative strategies, project management, budget, staff and agency collaboration. Though effective storytelling and strategic design, this position aims to elevate the visitor experience and foster a strong emotional connection with our brand and audience. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of creative strategy expertise, leadership skills and a passion for the Reno Tahoe area.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a cohesive brand and creative strategy that reflects the values of the destination and organization.
  • Oversee creative development and execution across marketing channels, including advertising, digital, print, internal materials, social media and other platforms to maximize reach and engagement with target audiences.
  • Collaborate with venue marketing and management teams to direct creative and marketing strategies that elevate each venues brand while ensuring consistency with overall RSCVA branding.
  • Identify trends and insights that inform creative strategies through data analysis, performance and research.
  • Manage the creative budget effectively ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within financial parameters.
  • Work closely with internal departments, agencies, community partners and stakeholders to leverage creative direction.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of campaigns using data-driven insights to refine strategies and optimize creative.
  • Direct and optimize the development of branded templates for the organization.
  • Determine website testing to create optimal site experience.
  • Provide direction to the team throughout the creative process to ensure the work delivers on established strategies; determine the effectiveness of the work after it has been activated; and use the information learned to make the necessary adjustments and improvements to future work.
  • Work with executives and other leaders to set project deadlines and content goals.
  • Present project information, including deadlines and budgets, to executives and clients.
  • Maintains a competent and motivated workforce by hiring, training, developing, disciplining, and evaluating the performance of subordinates. Provides timely and appropriate feedback to staff on performance and work issues.
  • Assists the Vice President of Marketing to develop and administer the creative budget. Reallocate resources as needed, provide timely updates to the Vice President of Marketing.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to direct the development of impactful sales assets.
  • Prepares and delivers monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and presentations with key performance updates.
  • Works directly with stakeholders and property representatives regarding the RSCVAs marketing programs; must be able to work with stakeholders with tact and diplomacy; and have exceptional presentation, writing and verbal skills.
  • Actively participates in formal department/RSCVA planning activities.
  • Serves as a consultant to other departments as needed.
  • Is knowledgeable in the RSCVA Safety Program and takes necessary steps to maintain a safe work environment. Adheres to safe work practices to prevent injuries.
  • Consistently demonstrates positive, interpersonal relations with all constituencies; cooperates harmoniously with others in the accomplishment of the RSCVAs strategic goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.
  • Adheres to attendance and punctuality requirements per RSCVA policy. Provides proper notification for absences and tardies. Takes corrective action to prevent recurring absences or tardies.
  • Uses time effectively and constructively. Does not abuse supplies, equipment, and service.
  • Observes all RSCVA and departmental policies governing conduct while at work (e.g., telephone and computer use, electronic messaging, smoking regulations, parking, breaks and other related policies).
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Advertising, Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Must have at least five years of creative strategy experience including writing, vetting imagery, providing creative feedback, analyzing data, and managing feedback processes.
  • Must have at least five years of marketing experience plus 2+ years of management experience.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task, and have impeccable attention to detail.
  • Must be computer-literate and proficient in various software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.
  • Ability to proficiently communicate, both in writing and verbally, with staff, supervisors, visitors, vendors, and the public.
  • Ability to read and understand financial reports.
  • Be well-versed in all advertising mediums/integrated marketing and their appropriate usage, including email, website, social media, SEO, SEM, mobile etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically, providing marketable solutions in conceiving, developing, and producing tactics and visual design.
  • Previous experience crafting quality work in the mediums of advertising, social media, conceptual campaigns, product launches, branding and photography.
  • Management of staff, direct oversite of areas such as social media, market research, website management, creative strategy.
  • Must be familiar with various organizational functions, personnel practices and techniques, including review techniques, and training methods.
  • Possess a valid Nevada driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sit, Stand, walk, squat, bend (at neck and waist, twist, reach above & below shoulder level as needed during the shift.
  • Simple grasping as well as repetitive use of hands and fine hand manipulation are needed to accomplish essential functions.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS /ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • May be exposed to various temperatures inside the building and outside the building, airborne particles, and fumes.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, or moderately noisy when outside the office.
