The Designer role is an entry level position responsible for assisting consultants and project managers with the design of technology systems in the various industries we work (Healthcare, Aviation, Education, Commercial, Government, and Science & Tech). The systems include the following: data/voice/video cabling systems and infrastructures, networks, wireless systems, voice communications, overhead paging, security access control, video surveillance, audio-visual, and other specialty systems. This primarily includes designing technology systems, support with writing specifications, and other design tasks for individual projects. In addition, the role requires creation of project design solutions and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
Responsibilities:
Revit Modeling and AutoCAD Drawing
- Develop building Revit models, create floor plans, flowcharts, project schedules, detailed diagrams, etc. and help produce high quality client deliverables
- Clean-up backgrounds, set-up drawings, implement mark-ups and plot drawings
- Print final drawings in PDF format and coordinate electronic delivery to project team members
- Incorporate project redlines from consultants into the Revit Model and CAD drawings
- Help create functional designs that meet specifications and clients needs
Design Phase
- Apply design principles and deliver practical results using fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures as instructed by consultants
- Contribute to client satisfaction by understanding their needs (contract requirements) and create project drawings that deliver desired results
- Assist consultants with product research and developing standards to support project deliverables
- Learn to coordinate with the external design team (architect, civil, MEP engineers, etc.)
- Support the development of the detailed design documents
- Create construction documents for review by the project Consultant
Implementation Phase
- Assist and conduct construction walk-throughs and formulate site observation reports
- Incorporate drawing changes as required by the project team during implementation
- Assist others in conducting surveys and assessment such as wireless LAN surveys, existing condition assessments, etc.
Professional/Practice Development
- Attend professional developmental seminars and conferences to stay abreast of industry changes and advances
- Seek certification and accreditation as appropriate and approved by your coach
- Participate and contribute to meet company goals
Travel
- This position may require limited out of town travel. This includes both project related travel and other travel such as industry conferences. This travel is typically during the week and 1-3 days in duration. Expect 1 trip every quarter on average. Travel is normally domestic however occasional international travel may be required.
Qualifications:
Professional Experience Requirements
- 0-3 years of experience in the Architect/Engineer/Contractor (AEC) industry
Education Requirements
- Bachelors Degree from a 4-year, accredited university in engineering, computer science, or other technical area is required
Registration/Certification Requirements
- Drafting certifications such as Autodesk Certified User are helpful, but not required
Software Proficiency Requirements
- In addition to strong personal computer skills including proficiency in MS Windows 10 or higher operating environment, a high level of proficiency and expertise in the following productivity tools is required and expected:
- MS Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.
- Revit by Autodesk
- BIM360 Docs/Construction Cloud
- AutoCAD by Autodesk
- Bluebeam Revu
