JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Editor in Chief Department: Creative Team Reports To: Director of Creative and Brand FLSA Status: Exempt Compensation Base Range: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 WHO WE ARE: REP designs world-class, innovative gym equipment that is sold around the world, and we are now expanding into apparel, supplements, athletes, and events. You will work closely with writers, designers, freelancers, and other stakeholders to ensure our content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with our brand voice. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a creative environment that promotes focus, collaboration, and growth. This is a critical role within our organization, essential for driving results and contributing to our growth objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Editorial Leadership: Help drive the overall editorial direction, strategy, and vision for all written content across platforms. Content Management & Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the content calendar, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality articles, features, and multimedia content. AI Integration: Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance content creation, streamline editorial processes, and improve audience targeting and engagement. Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of writers and freelancers, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and professional growth. Help the team prioritize the needle-moving projects. Quality Control: Ensure all content meets the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment through thorough editing and proofreading. Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, design, and social media teams to create cohesive content campaigns that engage our audience. Audience Engagement: Analyze audience feedback and metrics to inform content strategies, enhance reader engagement, and grow our audience. Conduct monthly reporting on performance of content and gap analysis for content. Trend Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge in content creation. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Delegates authority to carry out work of a unit to subordinate supervisors or managers. Exceptional writing, editing, and organization skills. Strong understanding of digital publishing, SEO best practices, social media and content strategies. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Portfolio that showcases writing and editing. COMPUTER SKILLS: Content Management Systems (CMS): Proficiency in popular CMS platforms (e.g., Shopify) for publishing and managing digital content. Analytics Tools: Familiarity with analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights) to track content performance and audience engagement metrics. SEO Tools: Understanding of SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush, Moz) for optimizing content to improve search visibility and rankings. Graphic Design Software: Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) to assist in the creation of visual content and marketing materials. AI Tools: Experience with AI content generation and optimization tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to enhance content strategy and production. Project Management Software: Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) for organizing workflows, managing editorial calendars, and tracking team progress. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field; or relevant work experience. 10 years of experience in editorial roles, with a proven track record in leadership, organization, and content strategy. Experience in graphic design, photo/video, proficiency in programs like Canva is a plus but not required. Certified in training and/or have a degree in health/fitness is a plus but not required.
