Loch Harbour Group is seeking a highly skilled Part-Time Technical Editor o join our team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional oral and written communication abilities, a keen eye for detail, and strong editing expertise. This role involves producing high-quality communication materials for a variety of audiences (internal and external), supporting communication planning efforts, and collaborating closely with our federal client. This position is primarily remote; however, candidates must reside within commuting distance of Washington, DC, to attend onsite meetings as required.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse platforms, including blogs, web pages, social media, print materials, and interactive digital products.
  • Conduct stakeholder analyses and recommend effective engagement strategies, messaging, and outreach plans.
  • Interview subject matter experts to create non-technical articles for public-facing platforms.
  • Research and prepare talking points, speeches, and long-form remarks for senior executives’ internal and external speaking engagements.
  • Plan and execute social media campaigns, including gathering and analyzing campaign metrics.
  • Edit both technical and non-technical documents to ensure grammatical accuracy, appropriate tone, and compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) branding guidelines.
  • Collaborate with graphics and video professionals on specialized projects, including drafting video scripts for mission-critical and technical content.
  • Assist with the development and execution of strategic communications plans tailored to various audiences, such as intergovernmental partners, elected officials, industry leaders, technology users, and academia.
  • Edit, revise, and rewrite documents and quick-turnaround tasks for leadership and Congressional audiences.
Requirements:

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in strategic communications.
  • 2+ years supporting senior executives in a large corporate or governmental environment.
  • 1+ years of experience with social media campaign management (preferred)

Skills:

  • Outstanding writing, editing, and strategic communication capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable content for a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Social media strategy and execution experience.
  • Familiarity with metrics gathering and presentation.
