We are seeking a talented Content Writer/Editor with a deep passion for cycling and endurance sports to join our team on a contractor basis. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and editing skills, a strong understanding of the cycling and endurance industry, and the ability to create compelling content across various formats.
Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Produce engaging and informative content focused on cycling, endurance sports, training, racing, gear reviews, and industry trends and insights.
- Output: Deliver a mix of articles, features, and product reviews, blending short form (250-500 words) with long form (1,000+ words) pieces.
- Editing: Ensure all content maintains accuracy, clarity, and aligns with our brand's tone and style guidelines.
- Research: Stay updated on the latest developments, trends, and innovations in the cycling and endurance industry through research and industry connections.
- Content Planning: Collaborate with the editorial team to develop content calendars, plan editorial themes, and brainstorm new ideas to drive audience engagement.
- Interviews and Features: Profile athletes, industry experts, and influencers to create compelling stories and thought leadership pieces.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, marketing, and product development to support company initiatives and campaigns.
- SEO Optimization: Optimize content for search engines by incorporating relevant keywords, meta descriptions, and other SEO best practices to increase organic traffic.
- Quality Control: Review all copy and sign off throughout the routing process, ensuring that all content meets our high standards for accuracy, integrity, and editorial excellence.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field.
- Proven experience as a writer/editor in the cycling, endurance sports, or outdoor industry.
- Deep understanding of cycling and endurance sports, including training methodologies, equipment, and industry dynamics.
- Knowledge of cycling brands and terminology, with a strong grasp of fashion/technical/activewear/sportswear language.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Exceptional command of grammar, spelling, and usage.
- Versatile and clear style of writing.
- Creative, collaborative, and receptive to feedback.
- Strong research skills and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
