The Museum of Modern Art's Film Department is currently accepting applications for a Film Shipping Clerk to assist in carrying out the general directives of the Senior Producer, Associate Producer, and the Film Traffic Coordinator, as well as the curatorial staff in coordinating the logistics of transporting moving image materials in and out of the Museum in service of its long-running film program.This is a part-time position (21 hours per week/seven hours per day) and is based in the Museum's Manhattan location.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Executes all physical shipping functions typical of a busy in-theater screening program, including materials for the Museum's circulating film and video library, and permanent collection.
- Packs and physically moves film, hard drives, and other material between the Museum's four theaters, study center, and its loading dock.
- Collaborates with the Associate Producer and Projection team to ensure smooth operation of all public and private events at the Museum.
- Supervises the traffic of the Museum's Circulating Film and Video library, including packing and shipping materials and inspecting film upon its return.
- Coordinates downloads and digital transfers for the Projection team at the direction of the Film Traffic Coordinator.
- Assists with other film shipping matters as needed.
- One to three years' experience in film traffic at a film festival or equivalent theatrical setting, including packing and shipping 16mm and/or 35mm film.
- Knowledge of organizational spreadsheets and institutional workflows.
- Active interest in contemporary and historical film is a must.
- Experience with Federal Express/DHL/UPS software preferred.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and to successfully interact with a wide range of personalities is valued.
Reports to:Senior Producer and Associate Producer
Salary:The hourly rate for this position is $26.50.
