Job Summary:
The Thin Films Technician will independently handle a range of tasks related to the fabrication and coating of Thin Films, including applying metal layers to polished surfaces. You will set up and operate various automatic and semi-automatic equipment in the Thin Films area, such as AR coaters, metallizers, and bonders.
Responsibilities:
- Execute production tasks based on process travelers, prints, recipes, and written or verbal instructions.
- Clean, load, and inspect crystal substrates to ensure they meet predetermined specifications.
- Collect and record process data in logbooks or charts, and update graphs as required.
- Assist with technical tests and experiments for process and design engineers, focusing on developmental projects, yield improvement, and equipment maintenance.
- Provide technical support, training, and assistance to others in the AO manufacturing area as needed.
- Contribute to the development of new processes and products.
- Assist with periodic preventive maintenance (PM) tasks.
- Adhere to cleanroom procedures when operating in cleanroom conditions.
- Perform additional job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or certification in a related field, or equivalent education through work experience.
- Over 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with vacuum equipment and operations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and solid math skills.
- Demonstrated good judgment in handling complex tasks and problems.
- Hands-on experience with equipment such as stereoscopes, high-powered scopes, Temescal, hyber-aligner, and spectrophotometer.
- Excellent dexterity and quality control skills, including cleaning and inspection using a microscope.
- Familiarity with databases and programs like FMP and LabVIEW is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of vacuum technology concepts and fundamentals preferred.
- Experience with optics is a plus.
