Tyndale House Publishers
Tyndale House Publishers is hiring: Graphic Designer in Carol Stream
Tyndale House Publishers, Carol Stream, IL, United States, 60199
For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of God's Word. Today we're one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open God's Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.
About the Design Team
The Tyndale Design Team is a hidden gem of design excellence. Larger than most design teams, we are 20+ creatives who meet weekly to collaborate on projects of all kinds, but especially book covers. We regularly pursue excellence in our craft as we research our industry, learn new processes, seek out inspiration, and push ourselves to create designs that surprise and delight our clients. A cover that has come through Tyndale Design has likely experienced multiple rounds of scrutiny and editing from our team to make it the best it can be. In addition to design excellence, our team deeply values collaboration, humility, and a desire to grow. We go beyond the design work itself to prioritize serving our clients by collaborating with designers, acquisitions, authors, sales, and marketers to make sure our designs amplify the intended messages. It's our hope to honor God in everything we do through our quality of work and how we serve others.
The Graphic Designer
If this sounds like a place where you could thrive, you should know we are hiring a new designer. You could be the one to help us design the future of books and Bibles at Tyndale. You would work closely with our team of art directors, designers, and production artists to create fiction, non-fiction, and kids' books while also getting the opportunity to design Bibles and various specialty products. You would be creating covers from the initial creative brief to developing designs, working with photographers, and hiring illustrators to sending final files to the printer.
This is a job that requires a creativity of spirit, a talent for asking questions and hearing what's not being said, an ability to stay organized throughout multiple long projects, a knack for handling details, the capacity to present the rationale behind your designs to clients, a willingness to collaborate at every stage, and a desire to steward your God-given talents for His Kingdom.
This is a job for someone who loves books, especially books that help people know God more.
This is a job for someone who has graduated from college with a design degree and/or has done extensive work learning the craft on their own without formal training.
This is a job for someone who loves working in InDesign and Photoshop. But what about Illustrator? Bring it! Procreate? Love it! Figma, Adobe XD, After Effects? You won't be using these on a daily basis, but we'd love to see what you can do.
This is a job best done in person. We believe you will learn the most from sitting side-by-side with our experienced designers and art directors. We will, however, allow flexibility to wfh occasionally once you settle in.
This is a job where you can bring your creativity beyond graphic design into your work and workplace through photography, illustration, hand-lettering, 3D art, and more. We want you to bring your diversity of skills and life experiences to our team.
This is a job where everyone on our team will be rooting for you, helping you develop your creative voice in ways that encourage you to grow personally and professionally.
Does this sound like the place for you? Send us a cover letter expressing why you are interested in working with us at Tyndale, and don't forget to include a link to your portfolio.
