General Summary:
Design university publications, advertisements, social media, interactive and related graphic and interactive projects.
Maintain the visual image and standards of the university, Works closely with the other designers, photographer, writers, and editors to produce materials to enhance the image of the university. Provides conceptual design and manages production for a wide range of academic publications, advertising, promotional materials, direct mail, social media, branding and other promotional material.
Examples of Duties:
- Design publications, advertising materials, social media posts, and large format projects from the conception of design through completion.
- Manage workflow, priorities, and multiple projects at once.
- Maintain adherence to university brand, logo, and color standards
- Meet with university clients to define publication designs, sequences, specs and schedules; determine the needs of the audience; and ensure materials adhere to accepted university brand guidelines.
- Oversee the development of specifications and cost estimates for printing services according to format, paper stocks, mail specification requirements, inks and volumes; inspect and approve printer proofs to ensure that specifications and standards of accuracy and quality of materials are met.
- Determine availability of resources to meet requests for preparation and completion of printed matter efficiently and on schedule;
- Collaborate with writers and editors from Creative services and other departments around campus on developing university publications.
- Direct and manage photo shoots.
Qualifications:
BFA in graphic design required and 5-7 years of professional marketing, graphic design experience. Extensive knowledge of graphic design principles and practices and the different software utilized in graphic design. Exceptional familiarity with typography, printing, production, and photography.
- Knowledge of graphic techniques, methods and technology used in the industry.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to produce large volume of high-quality printed pieces under tight time constraints while meeting deadlines
