About The Role:

This new family member will have a natural talent and passion for creating. We are seeking a true artist, a real illustrator with a passion for designing custom typography, logo identity creation, and free hand drawing.

This person has a natural tendency to spot trends, spends their free time drawing and enjoys studying the creative landscape. We are looking for an artist with a point to prove and a fierce drive to be the best. We are looking for someone who loves well made products, teamwork, collaboration and wants to put their creative mark on the industry. This person will possess proven time management experience. We ask that you have expertise in understanding and interpreting consumer insight, market intelligence to maximize business growth and market share in accordance with melins core product pillars. Our core pillars are taking the eco-friendly approach, best in class materials, unique details and innovative design, comfort, and performance. This role reports to the Vice President of Product.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Leadership, Product Design, Marketing, and Creative teams to design cutting edge, compelling seasonal print & pattern artwork, typography, trims, labels, graphics, hangtags, and product packaging.
  • Assist in Logo/Branding ideation and execution.
  • Research consumer trends, market trends, and color trends with the ability to interpret to the melin consumer.
  • Create and present design inspiration mood boards with patterns, images, color direction, and seasonal storytelling.
  • Manage and maintain trim design and development including branding, woven labels, and hangtags.
  • Assist team in preparing for design reviews and other meetings. Aid in the creation and maintenance of design cads.
  • Work closely with design, product, and creative teams to implement brand vision, division guidelines, and art direction.
  • Provide strike off comments, proto, and sample submits and provide solutions with the development team.
  • Create and maintain one sheet sales tools.
  • Manage and execute multiple design projects from concept to finished product within calendar deadline to ensure hitting design, development and GTM dates.
  • Interpret direction and feedback to update art files and problem solving in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Create Industry-leading and innovative design.
  • A mix of freehand drawing skills with digital design.
  • Supreme attention to detail is a must, keen eye on layout design.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to pivot well and turn around projects within 48-hours.
  • A highly motivated self-starter.
  • A professional who works well with all levels of management and has a can do attitude.
  • Team player attitude required.
  • Brings a collaborative energy.
  • Eagerness to jump in at any level of artwork creation as needed by the team.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2+ years experience in Graphic Design.
  • Extremely proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Freehand drawing skills are a must.
  • Knows how to create a repeat pattern and/or turn a non-repeat into a repeat pattern.
  • Experience in design, development, production processes from concept, development through production.
  • High organizational skills to create clear presentations, interpret art direction, and follow through with internal teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with teammates across the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adapt to change.
  • Must have strong time management skills.

Location & Office Structure: This position is an in-office position four days a week in San Clemente, CA and subject to change based on business needs.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $66,560-$85,000 annually; salary is based on the experience that you bring to the position.
