About Etched

Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep chain-of-thought reasoning.

ECAD/MCAD Symbol Librarian

We are seeking an experienced ECAD/MCAD Librarian to manage and maintain our symbol and component libraries, ensuring seamless integration between electrical and mechanical design workflows while supporting design for manufacturability (DFM).

Representative Projects:

  • Develop, maintain, and organize both the ECAD library for Allegro Layout PCB footprints and the MCAD library for Siemens NX, ensuring alignment with design team requirements and project specifications
  • Create and validate complex schematic symbols and PCB footprints for Allegro Layout, ensuring compliance with IPC standards and company guidelines
  • Develop and maintain accurate 3D models and metadata for electronic components in Siemens NX, ensuring seamless integration into mechanical assemblies
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to adjust symbols and footprints as needed, ensuring compliance with design for manufacturability (DFM) requirements and alignment with JEDEC standards and industry guidelines
  • Partner with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure accurate integration between ECAD and MCAD domains, minimizing errors in the design and manufacturing processes
  • Establishing and enforcing the best practices for library version control, part approvals, and data integrity
  • Ensure ECAD and MCAD libraries are synchronized, consistent, and up-to-date to prevent discrepancies between electrical and mechanical designs
  • Collaborate with component suppliers to obtain accurate technical data and ensure compatibility with design requirements
  • Perform detailed quality checks on symbols, footprints, and models to guarantee design accuracy and reliability

You maybe a good fit if you have

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in ECAD/MCAD library management, including creating Allegro Layout symbols and Siemens NX 3D models
  • Expertise in Allegro PCB Editor, Siemens NX, and related tools for symbol and model creation
  • Good understanding of Part Life Cycle, EOL parts and RoHS, EU
  • Strong understanding of IPC standards for PCB footprint creation, JEDEC standards for manufacturability, and mechanical tolerances for component modeling
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing teams to adapt designs for optimal manufacturability and yield
  • Experience with version control systems for ECAD/MCAD libraries, such as Git or PLM software
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage complex libraries with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., SKILL for Allegro or NX Open) to automate library management tasks
  • Knowledge of BOM management and integration with ECAD/MCAD libraries

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.

How we're different:

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.

We are a fully in-person team in Cupertino, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.

Benefits:

  • Full medical, dental, and vision packages, with 100% of premium covered, 90% for dependents
  • Housing subsidy of $2,000/month for those living within walking distance of the office
  • Daily lunch and dinner in our office
  • Relocation support for those moving to Cupertino
