Functions and Responsibilities

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Libraries or designee, responsible for daily operations in the library regarding electronic resources including database management; compiling and reporting statistics regarding electronic resources; and assisting in evaluation and acquisition of new electronic resources.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Tracks, troubleshoots, and maintains access for electronic resources. Assists in ensuring access is available to patrons via multiple discovery methods (e.g., library catalog Koha, ProQuest Summon discovery service, etc.).
  2. Assists in maintaining the library's electronic resources including online databases and streaming media; the online A to Z periodical list; the online A to Z database lists; and the Koha knowledgebase.
  3. Maintains database holdings with the most current information in appropriate electronic resources. Assists librarian in maintaining administrative accounts for electronic resource platforms and vendor databases to manage content and generate reports.
  4. Responds to and resolves electronic resources administration, access, and discovery issues promptly via ticketing system, e-mail, and direct communication.
  5. Manages troubleshooting and technical skills to resolve issues, consulting with internal and external partners as necessary.
  6. Assists in organizing and maintenance of the Library of Congress print collection; copy cataloging, creating, maintaining reports on the transition to electronic collection includes processing of titles, check-in library's online system.
  7. Assists the Associate Director, Libraries in grant and programming activities related to electronic resources including establishing relationships with Technology and Facilities for related issues to access and discovery.
  8. Collects electronic resources order and usage data, compiles and analyzes customized reports in line with systematic, sustainable assessment procedures.
  9. Assists in routine communication with students, faculty and staff regarding library electronic resources.
  10. Assists in the development and refinement of workflows to accomplish specific, time-limited goals and temporary or long-term projects.
  11. Participates in unit and departmental projects and contributes to the smooth function of Library services access across subscriptions.
  12. Other projects as needed.

Additional Requirements

1. Graduate Degree in Information Science or Information Systems or Computer Science or Analytics or Data Science with strong interest in Information Science and Future of Learning

2. Exceptional communication skills with an understanding of information trends including algorithmic bias, digital literacy initiatives from the NJ Legislature and the US Board of Education

3. Bilingual in Spanish helpful.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
Master's Degree
2 years' Experience in the processing of technical work in a library.
2 years' Experience with Library management systems including OCLC, MARC and understanding of related catalog and classification of materials.
2 years' Experience with software applications and tools commonly used in library work, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat DC, and Google Docs (including Forms and Sheets).
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on detailed and complex tasks.
Experience with underserved or marginalized communities and communities of color and commitment to inclusion and equitable access to information resources.

Education Requirements
Master's Degree
