The City of Greensboro's Main Library is looking for a dedicated and reliable Library Courier to support library operations by transporting materials and ensuring timely delivery across our network of library locations. About the Role
As the Library Courier, you'll be responsible for:
  • Transporting library materials between locations and to external agencies.
  • Operating an automated lift and hand truck for loading and unloading materials.
  • Performing minor maintenance on the delivery vehicle, keeping detailed records on maintenance logs.
  • Sorting holds for library circulation and assisting staff with inquiries related to courier schedules and delivery functions.
  • Responding promptly to delays, accidents, and other transportation issues.
  • Evaluating weather conditions and making recommendations for delivery service adjustments as needed.
The incumbent must be able to work independently with little or no supervision; ability to sort books and library materials based on established location codes; ability to frequently lift tubs of books and other library materials; excellent oral communications skills for the purposes of conveying information and instructing others while maintaining a strong customer service focus; display professional business attitude with a pleasant demeanor while working in a customer service-oriented organization; and the ability to embrace change and to work in an organization that values customer service.

This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to safety, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. daily for loading and unloading. You will play a vital part in our library system's smooth functioning by ensuring that resources are delivered safely and on time.

This job is Non-Exempt and subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • "OR" No High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of courier/delivery experience (i.e. relevant experience with deliveries, including handling materials and driving a delivery truck.)
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Customer service experience.
