Starting pay rate is $22.29 an hour per the 1386B Working Agreement. This is a part-time position 20 hours a week with a mix of daytime evening and weekend rotation. The purpose of this position is to perform library support services independently and collaboratively in the Youth Services Department. This position is responsible for providing efficient customer access to information and materials through extensive customer contact; completing tasks requiring proficiency and experience using office productivity software the Internet and some technology devices; assisting with collection maintenance youth and teen program planning and delivery including story times and book clubs; assisting with the library's public relations and marketing initiatives and creating a welcoming warm and respectful environment for library patrons and staff.

Work Environment

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have graduated from high school or have earned a graduate equivalent diploma (GED). Customer service experience is a must. Library experience is a plus.

- Plans and executes story times for babies; toddlers; preschool aged children; and families.
- Adopts a connected learning approach to presenting programs; classes; and events for and with youth; teens and caregivers so that they educate; inform and inspire.
- Participates in outreach activities.
- Utilizes the library's integrated library system software; especially the circulation module; to answer patron questions; update records; place holds for items and more.
- Assists patrons with finding reading and other library materials. Make recommendations from within the collection.
- Assists patrons with using the library's online catalogs.
- Assists patrons with use of technology tools including public computers; self-check stations; printers; iPads and more.
- Assists with collection maintenance including weeding; keeping collections and displays neat; clean and well organized.
- Keeps usage statistics on a daily basis.
- Answers phone calls and responds to patron inquiries.
- Enters and edits records in the library's calendar and room management software.
- Assists with training of library pages.
