The Chattahoochee Valley Libraries (CVL) seeks an experienced leader to oversee the public service operations of aprogressive, award-winning public library systemserving a four-county region in west central Georgia. With seven branches, two bookmobiles, and two 24-hour libraries, our system thrives on innovation, accessibility, and excellence.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Hasat least eight years of experiencemanaging one or more library branches, witha minimum of three years in an administrative role.
- Demonstratesa proven ability to set and meet strategic goals, while guiding and supporting direct reports in achieving their own professional objectives.
- Thrives in afast-paced environment, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering exceptional public service.

Unique to Georgia, CVL is a component unit of the Muscogee County School District. With a dedicated portion of the millage, and one of the largest private library foundations in the country, CVL has stable funding and a total budget in excess of $9M. Our staff of over 100 enjoy serving almost half a million in-person visitors a year, with almost a million checkouts annually. We have Georgias second highest per capita funding for materials. Our annual Columbus Childrens Book Festival brings world-renowned authors and illustrators for a day a celebration for thousands. CVL was the first library system in GA to go fines free, and implement 24-Hour library kiosks. The Robert A.M. Stern Columbus Public library is the second largest public library building in Georgia, and was voted one the ten most beautiful libraries in the state. We are small enough to be nimble, and large enough to try new things.

With the amenities of Atlanta and the worlds largest airport only 90 minutes away, Columbus is also equal distance to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic. Columbus is the home to Aflac. Synovus and TSYS Global Payments have a large stake here as does Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning). Columbus has a vibrant arts and culture scene, with great museums, a renovated downtown area, a Riverwalk, and the worlds largest urban whitewater experience. We have a great food scene, and a low cost of living.
Minimum Education: Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Studies
Salary:$92,006 / year
