The Music Therapist focuses on musical remedies to address a variety of issues and work with patients by encouraging them to play, listen or move to music as part of a therapeutic treatment program. The Music Therapist can work in hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities or the patient's home.

Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, and directs medically prescribed music therapy activities as part of a physical healthcare and treatment of patients to influence behavioral and psychological changes.
- Develops treatment plan, using individualized assessments, depending on focus of therapy.
- Directs or participates in instrumental and vocal music activities designed to meet patients' physical or psychological needs.
- Instructs patients individually or in groups in prescribed instrumental or vocal music and music projective techniques, such as guided imagery, progressive relaxation, or awareness of conscious feelings.
- Studies and analyzes patients' reactions to various experiences and prepares reports describing symptoms indicative of progress or regression.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Music or Music Therapy, Masters preferred.
- Certification as a Board Certified Music Therapist is required.
- Three (3) years related experience preferred in an health care environment.
- Proficient with musical instruments to be used in therapy programs.
$30.00 - $34.00 per hour (Average Pay Range). Pay will be determined based on experience.
