To oversee music and theater programs at Academy360 Upper School, Livingston, NJ. The Teacher of Music will provide instruction that fosters learning and personal growth in the development of musical skills, music appreciation, and creative expression.
QUALIFICATIONS
(REQUIRED):
- New Jersey Teacher of Music certification is required.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of NJSLS for music, effective teaching methods, and appropriate developmental instructional and classroom management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
(PREFERRED):
- Successful experience working with individuals with ASD and Developmental Disabilities.
- Experience directing school performances
- Experience instructing small group instrumental lessons
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a music and theater curriculum that is aligned with applicable NJ Student Learning Standards.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction that is adapted to the educational needs of each pupil and linked to the goals and objectives for each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are developmentally appropriate and meet the individual needs, interests, and ability levels of all students.
- Monitor student academic progress and social/emotional growth and maintain records of the progress in these areas through written reports and a report card.
- Maintain standards of student behavior through the implementation of the school's positive behavior support system and individual behavior plan when indicated to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Attend and participate in all meetings as directed by their supervisor.
- Complete and maintain current training in crisis management procedures and interventions.
