Description
Position Purpose: To serve as a leader in the spiritual growth and development of children at Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Position Summary: The Children's Ministry Music Coordinator is responsible for leading, rehearsing, and developing musicians and dancers in various roles and services for Shadow Mountain Kids, in collaboration with the SMCC Music and Worship ministry. Working with the Children's Pastor, this position will help coordinate and execute production needs, service planning, and long-term ministry goals. This may include but are not limited to weekend children's worship service (aka Kids Blast), outreach events, and other church ministry-related events.
Note: In the following description, the term Kids Blast refers to our children's ministry big church service of several hundred elementary kids, including games, activities, live worship, skits, bible story, and small group discussion time.

Description

Position Summary: The Children's Ministry Music Coordinator is responsible for leading, rehearsing, and developing musicians and dancers in various roles and services for Shadow Mountain Kids, in collaboration with the SMCC Music and Worship ministry. Reports to: Children's Pastor or Children's Director or both
Responsibilities and Duties: (include but are not limited to the following):
- Serve as a worship leader, host, or instrumentalist in Children's Ministry services (Kids Blast).
- Develop and lead the worship and choreography team for Children's Ministry services (Kids Blast).
- Coordinate and lead band, singers, and choreography team rehearsals.
- Assist with the stage set up/tear down and sound checks.
- Coordinate music charts, stems (tracks), and organization of service music to musicians as needed.
- Administrate Planning Center (scheduling software) for Kids Blast, including but not limited to setting rehearsal times, input of service order, scheduling of musicians, hosts, storytellers, etc.
- Hold weekly meetings with Children's worship/tech staff.
- Serve on the Children's Ministry Creative Team for special productions.
- Assist in planning and facilitating all Children's Ministry programs and events - i.e. weekend services, Summer Blast (VBS), and special events.
- Attend and actively participate in all Children's Ministry programs and services including set up, tear down, and clean up.
- Engage in appropriate and meaningful connections with children for spiritual development, support, and community.
- Invest in a team of volunteers, providing direction, support, feedback, and encouragement.
Ministry Staff Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a Christ-like attitude in performing all work in a way that glorifies God.
- Faithfully maintain discretion and effectively deal with sensitive and/or confidential written and spoken information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Children's Pastor/Director.
- Follow Shadow Mountain Community Church's policies and procedures.
- Attend weekly staff meetings for team building, clarifying responsibilities, establishing vision, and planning programs.
- Fulfill office hours assisting in ministry duties including but not limited to planning, development, organization, preparation, and set-up/clean-up.
- Regularly attend a weekend service at Shadow Mountain Community Church.
- Be proactively informed about current cultural trends relating to children.
Qualifications
Worship/Music Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a passion for worship and ministry to elementary-age children.
- Demonstrate moderate piano/keyboard or guitar skills and sight-reading ability.
- Familiarity with relevant software applications (such as Multitracks Playback, Planning Center Online, etc.).
- Relative proficiency in music theory.
- Knowledge of audio recording techniques and skills.
- Ability to recruit, train and lead musicians in a ministry and musical setting.
- Experience in leading worship.
- Ability to lead a band in rehearsal.
- Ability to engage an audience of several hundred children and guide them through a musical worship experience.
General Qualifications

- A history of strong moral character and integrity.

- Strategic thinker
- Have completed or begun the process of becoming a member at Shadow Mountain Community Church (including baptism).
Education and Experience
- High School diploma.
- On track to receive a degree in worship arts, music, and/or biblical studies (preferred but not required)
- Three to five years of ministry experience - serving/volunteering/leading with children and/or youth (preferred but not required).
Visual Demands
- Computer monitor, reading.
Environment
- Office. Pleasant, comfortable temperature.
- Auditorium. Noise levels up to 100 dB(a).
