This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Supplemental Instructor - Music who will be all-in on our mission and who will teach applied instrumental and vocal private lessons and/or other music courses to students of all ages.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate degree or above
Preferred: Master's degree or above
EXPERIENCE:
Required: If candidate has an Associate degree, mastery of subject content matter must include one year of teaching or performance experience. If candidate has a Master's degree, no performance or teaching experience is required.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
- Plan, develop and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Teach day and/or evening courses as required.
- Develop curriculum.
- Confer with students on course materials.
- Review examinations, performances and papers.
- Prepare syllabus i.e., determine course content that is consistent with the catalog description.
- Select instructional materials (textbooks).
- Teach applied instrumental and vocal private lessons and/or other music courses for non-academic credit students of all ages.
- Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.
- Assist with registration.
- Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Participate in department, division and college meetings as assigned or required.
- Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as required.
