Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Associate's Degree, 48 Semester hours, or Academic Assessment.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited HS or GED Program
- Texas Accredited School to meet the No Child Left Behind requirements.
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Good understanding of musical terminology and/or ability to perform music
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with teacher(s) and students.
Experience:
- Some experience working with children.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the elementary music teacher in preparing material for instruction, maintain bulletin
board displays, and operate audiovisual equipment.
- Provide clerical assistance, duplicate materials, maintain student records, and perform some of
the duties of an educational materials assistant.
- Work as an instructional assistant, demonstrate skills and instruct students while under the supervision of the music teacher.
- Supervise students before school and during lunch period.
- Attend Fine Arts meetings, clinics, and in-service workshops.
- Work with the principal, supervisory staff and music teacher in identifying and solving problems related to his/her students.
- Interact with students to promote a positive school image to enhance the learning process.
- Promote positive community relations through effective communication.
- Demonstrate professional attitude in performing designated responsibilities.
- Demonstrate proficiency and creativity in assisting the music teacher to maintain a well-disciplined classroom environment conducive to music education.
- Dress professionally and appropriately.
- Effectively perform other duties and functions assigned by the Principal, Music Teacher, and the Director of Fine Art.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Principal may assign.
