SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Teachers shall comply with all policies, rules, regulations, procedures and directions of the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools and Principals to whom they are directly responsible.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must have no convictions of a felony or past criminal history, be in good health as evidenced by completion of a physical examination as prescribed by the Board. Must be of good character and moral behavior; proper state teaching certificate for the grade levels to which the teacher is assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set goals and objectives, plan learning activities related to the goals and objectives in order to teach the skills and/or content materials and evaluate and report the progress of the pupils assigned to him/her.
- Prepare unit plans, goals and objectives and learning objectives using the adopted curriculum guide for each subject area and class
- Positively motivate pupils to have success in learning
- Evaluate the progress of each pupil
- Supervise all pupils assigned to them and insure that proper discipline is maintained
- Aid other teachers and staff members in cooperative phrases of the instructional program
- Attend all faculty, departmental and other related meetings and serve on committees as determined by the immediate supervisor, building principal or Superintendent or his designee
- Prepare and have available at school complete and up-to-date weekly lesson plans which provide goals, objectives and learning activities for pupils assigned
- Complete all forms and reports that are assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or building principal
- Exhibits positive, helpful attitude toward all pupils in order to help them develop and mature mentally, physically, emotionally and socially
- Report attendance, discipline and like problems to the immediate supervisor or building principal
- Treat and maintain properly all equipment, materials, supplies and textbooks assigned to him/her
- Perform extra-curricular and other out-of-classroom assignments made according to the policies of the Board of education and administrative procedure
- Be familiar with all teacher and district handbooks and adhere to policies of the Board of Education and administrative procedures
- Follow yearly curriculum map for grade level assigned
- Follow the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan of the school(s)
- Implement research-based instruction
- Adhere to suggestions as recommended by the Leadership Team
- Collaborate with colleagues in order to build the program
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or building principal
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Will be required to complete all required training and attend in-service sessions.
- Performs assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Consistently displays self-control with parents, students and school personnel.
- Maintains a clean workstation (bus, desk, office, etc.) and does maintenance as needed.
- Be clean, neat and appropriately dressed.
- Be consistently responsible and display an attitude of honesty and credibility.
- Show enthusiasm, interest and concern for the total program and its efficient operation.
- Maintains student control.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times.
- Demonstrate positive behavior toward the purposes and goals of the Barren County Public Schools.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Work year is comprised of the number of days as designated by board policy.
- Salary commensurate with adopted certified personnel salary schedule.
- Sick leave and personal leave provided as stated in board policy.
