The Department of Music seeks a committed, enthusiastic, active Full-time, Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the teaching of music theory and related courses such as orchestration and arranging, digital media in music, and composition. This appointment includes teaching duties based upon interest and expertise, i.e., chamber music, music appreciation, global music, popular music, musical theatre. The ideal candidate must participate fully in departmental and college activities. Creative work and/or research and publication required. Strong recruiting skills required.
Teaching appointment will begin August 2025.
The Department of Music, an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, has an energetic faculty of artists who work closely together, providing studies leading to the B.M. in Music Education and the B.A. in Music along with 3 Minors in Music, Music Education, and Musical Theatre. There are extensive on-campus performance activities for music majors as well as the general student, both at Saint Mary's and the University of Notre Dame. Housed in the Moreau Center for the Arts, the department's facilities include a computer and piano lab, excellent practice facilities, the Little Theatre recital hall and the 1,300-seat O'Laughlin Auditorium. The Moreau Center also serves as home to performances of the South Bend Chamber Singers and various touring productions. www.saintmarys.edu/music.
