Job Title: Video Podcast Technician 

Job Summary: 
We are seeking a skilled Video Podcast Technician to join our team to support the production of high-quality video podcasts. This role is responsible for the technical setup, recording, file management, and breakdown of video podcast productions, ensuring seamless workflow and optimal quality. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of videography, lighting, and audio, and the ability to manage various elements in a dynamic podcasting environment. You will play an integral part in achieving high production values for our podcasts by ensuring all technical aspects are executed smoothly. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Podcast Setup and Teardown: 
  • Set up all video podcast equipment, including cameras, microphones, lights, and any additional accessories needed for each production. 
  • Conduct pre-show equipment checks and adjustments to ensure optimal functionality and performance of all gear. 
  • Safely and efficiently dismantle, store, and maintain equipment post-production. 
  1. Video Recording and Management: 
  • Operate and monitor camera systems during recording, ensuring proper framing, color, focus, and image clarity throughout the shoot. 
  • Manage file storage, labeling, and backup to ensure easy access and retrieval of recordings. 
  • Ensure the highest quality video capture, keeping in mind color management, focus settings, and exposure adjustments. 
  1. Lighting and Set Design: 
  • Implement basic lighting techniques to enhance visual appeal, create a professional atmosphere, and minimize shadow and glare. 
  • Assist with simple set design adjustments as needed, including positioning and arranging furniture, props, and decor to suit each recording. 
  • Understand and apply lighting basics, such as key light, fill light, and backlighting, to achieve flattering and consistent lighting conditions. 
  1. Audio and Sound Setup: 
  • Set up and monitor basic audio equipment, ensuring all microphones are appropriately placed and tested to capture clear sound. 
  • Conduct sound checks, troubleshoot audio issues, and coordinate with audio engineers as needed to ensure quality audio capture during video podcasting. 
  1. Technical Troubleshooting and Support: 
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting support for both audio and video issues that may arise during live recording sessions. 
  • Work closely with the production team to address technical challenges efficiently, minimizing disruptions to the recording process. 
  1. Collaboration and Communication: 
  • Collaborate with producers, hosts, and other production staff to understand creative direction and ensure all technical elements align with the podcast's aesthetic and tone. 
  • Maintain open communication with the team to proactively identify and address potential technical needs or improvements. 

Requirements: 

  • Education and Experience: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Film, Communications, or a related field is preferred. 
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in videography, podcast production, or a similar role. 
  • Technical Skills: 
  • Proficient in videography, with a strong understanding of camera settings, framing, color management, focus techniques, and exposure adjustments. 
  • Basic understanding of lighting, including hands-on experience with studio lights and natural lighting setups. 
  • Basic understanding of audio equipment and sound recording for video production. 
  • Familiarity with file management, storage solutions, and video editing software for post-production workflow efficiency.

Additional Information: 

This is an on-site position that may require working on a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, depending on the production schedule. The Video Podcast Technician will be an essential contributor to the success of our video podcast productions, and their role will be crucial in maintaining the high standards our audience expects.
