Northrop Grumman’s Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) is seeking a Principal Systems Ops and Sustainment Engineer (T03) or a Sr Principal Ops and Sustainment Engineering Lead (T04) to join our team in Dulles, VA to act as the factory engineering lead. The selected candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for NG Dulles’ support to the on-orbit operations of a Satellite Missions Business Unit (SM BU) program.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Standard business hours support to the regular operations tempo (mission daily meetings, pre/post mission briefings, assisting with bus maintenance activities, CCBs)
  2. Periodic monitoring of Bus state-of-health / Trending
  3. Acting as the NG Bus representative for on-call support of on-orbit issues or anomaly resolution
  4. The maintenance and improvement of bus related operational procedures / scripts
  5. Assisting with the execution of future mission rehearsals, system software updates

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Principal Systems Engineer (T3): Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 5 years of applicable experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of applicable experience.
  2. Senior Principal Systems Engineer (T4): Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with at least 9 years of applicable experience or Master's degree with 7 years of applicable experience.
  3. Must have US Citizenship with current or active Top Secret/SCI Clearance at time of application.
  4. Knowledge and experience in satellite engineering disciplines to include attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling, and flight and ground software.
  5. Familiarity with the anomaly resolution process.
  6. Experience with developing and presenting briefing slides to senior leaders and executive level personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in GeoStar-1 space vehicle design.
  2. Experience with satellite ground software.
  3. Ability to lead an engineering team through the anomaly resolution process.
  4. Strong technical background in orbital mechanics/astrodynamics.
  5. Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor.

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
