Event Coordinator/Public Relations Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute a wide variety of horticultural events, including garden exhibitions and community gatherings.
- Coordinate event logistics, such as venue selection, equipment rental, transportation, and vendor coordination.
- Manage event budgets effectively, ensuring financial resources are allocated efficiently and within established limits.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to ensure seamless event execution and promote cross-functional teamwork.
- Infuse sustainability principles into event planning, incorporating eco-friendly practices, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing.
- Craft memorable and engaging event experiences that cater to the interests of attendees, creating lasting impressions.
- Assist in the marketing of events, including the creation of promotional materials and outreach to targeted audiences.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and obtain necessary permits for events as required.
- Collect and analyze event data and feedback to make informed decisions for continuous improvement and future events.
- Address challenges and troubleshoot issues that may arise during events, maintaining composure and adaptability to keep events running smoothly.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, influencers, and key stakeholders in the horticultural and gardening community.
- Develop PR campaigns to increase event attendance and visibility.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization during events, addressing attendees, and fostering a positive atmosphere.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with departmental and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Related Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Event Management, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Communications, or Horticulture is preferred.
- One year of previous experience in planning and executing events, preferably including horticultural or garden-related events is required.
- Strong knowledge of heirloom seed varieties is required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- A deep understanding of event planning principles, including logistics, budgeting, and project management.
- Knowledge of horticultural practices, plant varieties, and gardening techniques to effectively plan and promote garden-related events.
- Familiarity with sustainable event practices, such as waste reduction, eco-friendly sourcing, and green event strategies.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques to effectively promote events, attract attendees, and build engagement.
- Understanding of local regulations and permits related to event planning, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders, vendors, and attendees.
- Strong financial skills to create and manage event budgets, monitor expenses, and maximize resources.
- The ability to identify and address challenges that may arise during event planning and execution, ensuring seamless operations.
- Effective teamwork and collaboration skills to work with internal departments, external partners, and vendors.
- Skills in data collection and analysis to evaluate event performance, gather feedback, and make data-driven improvements for future events.
- Strong knowledge of heirloom seed varieties.
