This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Radio Frequency (RF) Measurement Engineer to provide support in our Annapolis Junction, MD office. As an RF measurement engineer, you will work with other RF wireless/measurement engineers to perform lab and field measurements for a US Government customer. You will be required to collect, process, analyze, and clearly and effectively communicate/display the data collected to support electromagnetic interference (EMI)/ Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) analyses. You will be required to document the approach, methodology, results, conclusions and recommendations in briefings and reports. There are also opportunities for improving upon existing tools or developing new automated/software tools to optimize efficiency and standardization of RF collection methods.
Work is performed on site in our Annapolis Junction, MD offices. Some travel will also be required to locations within the US and overseas to perform field measurements.
What you will do
- The primary responsibilities will be to perform radio frequency engineering testing and measurements in support of electromagnetic compatibility assessments for space and terrestrial systems.
- Duties will include planning, developing, executing, analyzing, and documenting measurements involving spectrum-dependent systems and associated components. Examples include but are not limited to: antenna pattern and frequency response measurements; active and passive component characterization; electromagnetic environment monitoring; bench testing; and diagnosing and resolving radio frequency interference problems.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to entry level technical staff and may act as a technical lead for limited aspects of a project.
- Provide independent interaction with customers and provide input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under guidance of more senior technical personnel.
- Provide input and support to intra-organizational proposal development efforts.
What we are looking for
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree must be from an accredited college or university. Degree(s) must be in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in a background in one or more of the following: electromagnetic compatibility/radio frequency interference (RFI) testing and analysis, RF measurements & testing, antenna systems, radiation hazard assessments, terrestrial and space communications systems.
- Demonstrated command of engineering principles, methods, and techniques in RF engineering/spectrum measurements & testing.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
- Effective customer and organizational level communication, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with MATLAB, Visualize and ArcGIS beneficial.
- Clearance: Have an active TOP SECRET security clearance with ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph.
- An Active TS/SCI with polygraph is preferred with a Single Scope Background Investigation being less than five years old.
