We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to oversee the planning, procurement, and implementation of large-scale public safety radio systems. This position will work closely with police, fire, EMS, and public transportation departments in a major metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in managing complex projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, procurement, and implementation of large public safety radio systems for first responders and public transportation agencies.
  • Manage the acquisition process for FCC licenses for large-scale public safety radio systems.
  • Oversee the specification, procurement, and installation of Motorola R56-compliant radio site infrastructure, including radio towers, shelters, site grounding and electrical systems, generators, and HVAC systems.
  • Provide detailed direction for the development of tower sites, ensuring conformance with Motorola R56 standards.
  • Track project progress, manage expenditures, and deliver regular status updates to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Set expectations for executive leadership, end-users, and vendors; define project deliverables, establish team roles, and ensure contract compliance and implementation quality.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery within budget constraints.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise reports, both written and visual, to explain technical issues to diverse audiences, including public officials and laypersons.
  • Identify, track, and resolve project-related issues, including scope changes, variances, and contingencies.
  • Foster effective communication and maintain productive relationships with departments, project teams, and vendors.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide team members to achieve project goals.
  • Provide clear and consistent instructions to project teams and vendors.

Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience managing public safety radio systems in metropolitan settings.
  • Proven track record of successful project management involving Motorola R56 standards and related infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of RF principles, current and legacy radio technologies, and mission-critical public safety network systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive project documentation and present complex information clearly.
  • FCC First Class, GROL, or Extra Class radio license preferred.
