Overview  

Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Staff RF Systems Engineer, Radio SOC to join our dynamic and fast growing design center in Sophia Antipolis Technology park, by the French Riviera. This is a unique opportunity for passionate engineers to join a successful, experienced team working on our next generation WiFi/BT connectivity chips. You will closely work with RF and analog design experts to architect and design state of the art Power management and analog circuits such as Buck converters, regulated charged pumps, LDOs, voltage/current references, etc. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Development Engineering.   

Responsibilities & Competencies

Job Duties

  • Define products and radio architectures for Wireless SOC products
  • Develop wireless SOC simulations and experimentations
  • Technically lead design of algorithms to improve Radio performance
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop digital/software assisted algorithms and methodologies that ensure good yield, low power, low area and manufacturability
  • Own definition of test methodologies, radio firmware optimization and productization in close collaboration with the design validation team
  • Review and drive resolution of customer specific radio related issues  

Competencies

  • Excellent understanding of Radio architectures and analog blocks functions, impairments and challenges
  • Strong understanding of wireless communication systems and communication protocols 
  • Knowledge of circuit level resentments of correction/calibration algorithms for various radio blocks (VCO, ADC, DAC, etc.)
  • Excellent technical expertise in mathematical modelling and analysis of signal processing  
  • Excellent analytical and documentation skills 
  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time with minimal guidance
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Results oriented, creative problem solver able to solve complex problems through adaptation of existing technology and investigation of new technology to resolve complex problems
  • Strong team player with the ability to become part of and lead geographically distributed, cross functional project teams as necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical teams and product level teams at the appropriate level of detail  

Qualifications(Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree (masters or PhD preferred) in Electronics and Communication Engineering or related field or equivalent 
  • 12 years of experience in developing radio SOC solutions
  • Experience analyzing Radio impairments (IQ offsets, RF leakages, spurious emission/coupling, Radio/Analog block noise, ADC/DAC system aspects, etc.) to system level performance matrix 
  • Hands on experience with RF system simulation tools and modelling with Matlab and/or C 
  • Demonstrated expertise with block level behavioral or mathematical modelling of various Radio/Analog blocks
  • Prior experience with test scripting using Python/C will be an advantage
  • Minimal travel up to 10% required
