Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 36 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,800 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of more than $1 billion. Located in Southern California, Los Angeles County is geographically one of the nation's largest counties, covering 4,752 square miles and, with over 10,400,000 residents, is also one of its most populous counties.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Take charge of our team of skilled Court Reporters and elevate the efficiency and quality of our reporting services. As a Managing Court Reporter, you will lead and inspire a dedicated staff, overseeing all aspects of planning, assigning, and reviewing their work while driving exceptional employee performance. This is an at-will managerial position. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act (SB 2140) authorizes the Court to exclude managerial employees from the employment protection provisions of the Act subject to meet and confer.

- Schedule Management: Direct the scheduling of Court Reporters to ensure coverage for courtroom proceedings.
- Performance Monitoring: Evaluate and monitor work plans, processes, and systems to meet court goals and service expectations.
- Selection and Training: Participate in the selection, orientation, training, and development of Court Reporters, ensuring compliance with education requirements.
- Performance Management: Establish performance requirements, monitor performance, provide coaching, and take disciplinary action as needed.
- Work Environment: Work with staff to create a high-performance, service-oriented work environment and promote positive employee relations.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws and enhance service.
- Transcripts and Records Management: Monitor the preparation of transcripts, oversee the maintenance and storage of notes and records, ensuring accuracy, security, and confidentiality.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
